What about an app?
Often, “app” is used as an abbreviation for application.
However, this often means slightly different or the terms are used interchangeably. That is why we have listed the differences between an app and software.
For an app, we are talking about a program that is used by the end user. Apps don't work on their own but require operating software to function.
When we talk about software, it's about a program or collection of programs used by a computer. It's everything that doesn't belong to hardware, the tangible parts of a computer system.
