MPS Trade Portal Case Study
MPS Trade Portal
The MPS Trade Portal is an online platform from MPS that allows traders, retailers, and other supply chain partners to check the sustainability and certification status of growers. The portal provides clear insight into certification information per grower and helps buyers select suppliers who meet sustainability and quality standards.
The project at a glance
MPS wanted to replace an outdated trade portal with a modern, scalable SaaS solution that integrated with the rest of its software landscape. We developed a completely revamped platform with a modern user experience, an optimized backend, and a technical architecture ready for further growth. The result is a faster, more user-friendly, and future-proof platform that was immediately well-received by users.

Modernization of the trade portal
The original Trade Portal was over ten years old. Although the underlying processes still met user needs, the platform's age increasingly imposed limitations.
The user interface felt outdated, maintenance became more complex, and adding new functionalities took increasingly more time. Additionally, MPS wanted to better align the user experience with other software products within the organization, ensuring customers a consistent experience across the entire platform offering.
At the same time, the new platform had to continue processing large volumes of certification data for an international user group, without compromising performance, security, or reliability.
Renewal with an eye on the future
From the start, we focused on more than just a visual refresh. The goal was to establish a solid technical foundation upon which MPS could continue to build in the coming years.
Strategy and Direction
During the kick-off, objectives, scope, and expectations were jointly defined. This formed the basis for clear planning and successful collaboration. In the backlog sessions, wishes and requirements were gathered, prioritized, and elaborated into concrete user stories. This created a clear roadmap for the development of the new Trade Portal.
Short iteration sprints
In close collaboration with the MPS team, we worked on the platform in short iterations. Weekly meetings ensured rapid alignment, while bi-weekly retrospectives provided opportunities for continuous improvement.
Foundation for further development
The current platform represents the first version of a broader vision. From this point, further development will be initiated step by step.
Platform Expansion
Future expansions include downloading certificates, sharing data between traders and growers, and new functionalities arising from market needs. With this renewed foundation, MPS is ready to further develop the platform together with its users.

Optimization and complex integrations
We developed a completely revamped frontend with a modern user experience that aligns with MPS's other software. Simultaneously, the backend was optimized so that data can be processed faster and future expansions can be more easily implemented.
An additional challenge lay in the authentication. The platform uses an external authentication provider for which direct access to the configuration was not available. This meant that various technical limitations had to be carefully resolved without impacting the user experience.
To present various data and enable the use of the trade portal, Xuntos has set up several integrations
- For organizational and company data, and ProductProof data, an integration with AFAS has been developed
- For secure login and company switching via existing MPS accounts, OpenID Connect is used
- For displaying certificate data (MPS-ABC, GAP, SQ), an integration with Gemma (My-MPS) has been developed
- For viewing a central register with current grower qualifications, there is an integration with the MPS Total Database
- Current news is displayed on the dashboard via an RSS newsfeed
- Through Intercom, users can directly access the built-in customer service

How does the MPS trade portal support traders in floriculture?
Certificates, qualifications, and ProductProof converge in one platform. The trade portal is integrated with existing MPS systems, not as a standalone solution. Trading companies no longer need to search multiple sources: they can find, monitor, and export supplier data based on current MPS certification.
What can traders do on the MPS trade portal?
- Growers can search, filter, and sort (country, crop, certificates)
- View certificates and grower details
- Create and manage your own supplier lists
- Track certificate status per list on the dashboard
- Export results to CSV
- Set language preference
Wij kijken met veel plezier terug op de samenwerking met Xuntos. De positieve en directe houding zorgde ervoor dat er snel stappen konden worden gezet. De combinatie van professionaliteit en humor maakte de samenwerking extra prettig.

The result
With the new Trade Portal, MPS now has a modern platform ready for further growth. Users benefit from a faster and more intuitive experience. Thanks to its updated design, the portal seamlessly integrates with the rest of the software landscape. Initial reactions were immediately positive. External usage measurements showed that the platform was well-received by traders within the first week after its launch.
