Why the Umbraco CMS is the best choice for your company or institution
Together with your company or institution, you are about to renew or perhaps completely replace the current website or your intranet. While preparing, you run into questions, such as “Does the current content management system (CMS) still meet our needs?” If not, which CMS is the best fit? And what should you consider when choosing a CMS?

Let's take an example. Suppose! You are the designated project manager for your company or institution's new website. So what do you think are the three most important requirements that a CMS must meet? This could be the following:
- It must be an open source CMS so that there are no annual licensing fees. This leaves more budget for the further development of the website or intranet.
- The content management system must be secure, in connection with personal information that needs to be stored.
- And in order to expand online activities in the future, the CMS will have to be flexible and easy to expand.
These points are in line with what the Umbraco CMS offers. Forgive me, I have to confess that I'm a little bit biased. At Xuntos, we develop our websites in this CMS.

And as a front-end developer, I can only share my experience about using the admin environment. I also need to place this article in the CMS. The first time I used Umbraco, I was able to quickly and easily find my way around and post content.
In addition, I regularly look over the shoulder of a back-end developer during projects. There, I see and hear what is possible with the Umbraco CMS.
So, from my point of view, I'll write why this CMS is the best choice for your company or institution.
Flexibility and expandability
The first point I think the Umbraco CMS is a good choice is the flexibility and expandability of the CMS. You can use the CMS for small websites to large websites and web shops, with the CMS serving the front end.
Multi-channel marketing platform
But you can also choose to use the Umbraco CMS as a multi-channel marketing platform where content is stored centrally in the CMS and allows it to communicate with multiple front ends.
In addition, you can think that the Umbraco CMS communicates via API links with, for example, a webshop, the corporate and working at websites, and the intranet. The CMS is also easy to integrate with external systems such as CRMs or payment gateways.
CMS expandable with Umbraco marketplace tools
Umbraco has a marketplace where you can find tools to expand the CMS, for example with the SEO Checker tool. A tool that allows you to monitor and optimize SEO on every page.
At Xuntos, we also develop new tools for the Umbraco CMS. For example, we are working on AI solutions that make editors' lives easier when creating content.
User friendly user interface, easy to use
The Umbraco CMS is known for its user-friendly user interface. As a result, managing the content on your website is intuitive and easy to understand. You'll find your way around quickly when you use this CMS for the first time.
After logging in, you will be greeted kindly by a dashboard with a clear tree structure of your website. In the tree structure, you can easily add, remove and modify pages.

You click on a page in the tree and start filling the page with content, from text to images. Under the menu item “Media”, you can store all your media files (images, video and documents).
Safety
It's no secret that Umbraco puts an emphasis on safety. The CMS is built on Microsoft's latest .NET (ASP.NET Core) technology. The technology is maintained consistently to limit safety risks.
In addition to internal testing of the CMS and by the community, Umbraco also does external testing twice a year by a security company. They perform penetration tests on the Umbraco CMS and Umbraco Cloud in search of possible vulnerabilities. Vulnerabilities found are regularly resolved and rolled out and the CMS remains bulletproof as much as possible.
Open source and costs
Of course, we are and will remain Dutch, without jokes. The Umbraco CMS is open source. So there are no licensing costs for this CMS. The only costs you have are the development costs of your website, any licensing costs for used add-ons such as Umbraco Forms or Umbraco Commerce, and finally the hosting costs.
Be aware that after delivery of the website, you have costs for further development.
In short, a flexible and scalable CMS with a user-friendly user interface and where safety comes first. Are you convinced? If yes, and you want to know more, please contact with us.
