New Rich Text Editor

One of the biggest changes to it is the move to the TipTap editor as the default word processor, replacing TinyMCE. TipTap offers better support for pasting content from applications such as Microsoft Word and Google Docs. TinyMCE remains optionally available.

Lazy-Loading for Better Performance

The lazy loading system optimizes the performance of large sites by loading only essential content at startup and saving additional content only when necessary. This increases the efficiency in memory consumption and speeds up the boot time.

New API User Type

This release introduces a type of “API user,” which allows communication between machines and the Umbraco Management API without a password. These users only have access to API functions, which ensures a safe and efficient backend setup.

Block Level Variants for Multilingual Support

Umbraco 15 includes experimental support for block-level variants, which improves the management of multilingual websites. This allows specific blocks per language to be modified without changing the full page variant.

Built on .NET 9

Finally, Umbraco 15 is built on .NET 9 (ASP.NET Core), which ensures compatibility with the latest .NET improvements and optimizes development standards and performance.
